DECEMBER 18: SING ALLELUIA!

Episcopal Church of St. Peter & St. Mary; 126 W 2nd Ave., Denver. 7:30 pm

Celebrate the Holidays with Singers Chamber Choir! Imagine a vocal orchestra where the voices intone a single word in many varied settings. That was Norm Te Slaa's vision for this unique holiday concert. Singers will perform settings of "Alleluia" by Eric Whitacre, Randall Thompson, Craig Cortenay and Ralph Manuel. We will also sing the joyous African carol "Betelehemu", Patrick Gowers' haunting "Chester Lullaby" and the Southern folk hymn, "Beautiful Star of Bethelehem". Please join us for an unforgettable holiday experience!

MARCH 18: IN THE WORDS OF SHAKEPEARE

St. Paul Episcopal Church; 9200 W 10th Ave, Lakewood. 8:00 pm
We commemorate the life and work of William Shakespeare  with choral settings of the Bard's greatest words. Ralph Vaughan Williams' classic Three Shakespeare Songs starts the program with words from "Tempest" and "A Midsummer Night's Dream", followed by Nils Lindberg's setting of the sonnet, "Shall I Compare Thee to a Summer's Day". Frank Martin's harrowing "You Are Three Men of Sin" (from his "Ariel Choruses") will highlight the second half of the concert. We will also feature selections by Wayland Rogers, Sven-Erik Johanson, Jaako Mantyjarvi, Emma Lou Diemer, William Mathias and Rene Clausen.

MAY 20: THE INTERNATIONAL SONGBOOK

St. Paul Episcopal Church; 9200 W 10th Ave, Lakewood. 8:00 pm

For our final concert of the season, Norm Te Slaa and the Singers Chamber Choir perform songs from the United States, France, Germany, Poland and Russia. Included will be excerpts from Brahms' "Zieguenerlieder" (Gypsy Songs), selections from the chansons of Debussy and Ravel, Copland's rousing cowboy song, "Ching-a-Ring-Chaw", the classic Soviet folk song "Kalinka", Stephen Foster's "Beautiful Dreamer", and much more. Some of these pieces were suggested by members of the choir. They represent some of our favorite pieces, and we hope they become your favorites as well.
